讲师：Peter Thiel
简介：1996年创办了Thiel资产管理公司（Thiel Capital Management），并在2002年更名为Clarium Capital Management。目前该公司管理总值超过50亿美元的资产。1998联合创办了PayPal，并在2002年以15亿美元出售给eBay。2005年，投资5000万美元创办Founders Fund风险投资公司，致力于扶植Web 2.0公司，曾在2004年为Facebook创始人提供了50万美元的启动资金，而这项投资为其获得2万倍的收益。Peter Thiel目前还是为政府机构提供电脑分析公司Palantir的董事会成员。
斯坦福大学是美国一所私立大学，被公认为世界上最杰出的大学之一。它位于加利福尼亚州的斯坦福市，临近旧金山。斯坦福大学拥有的资产属于世界大学中最大的之一。它占地35平方公里，是美国面积第二大的大学。

How to Start a Startup 课后感（HomeJoy篇）

从大四加入第一次接触 startup 开始，这三年来我每天都不断地(“被”)了解创业故事和方法论，五花八门无所不有脑洞大开。今年 Stanford 和 YC 合作开办了
的课程，我自觉非常幸运能带着我的点子来看这门课，引发我更具体、辩证地思考这些理念、方法的借鉴意义。这也许就像读 MBA 一样，往往已经从业多年的人会比懵懂的本科毕业生更能获得帮助。
如果你打算或正在看这个课程，我建议你准备好一个创业点子后再开始/继续上课吧。
以下 “课后感” 源于
创始人讲的。
1111 做一件和自己 relate 的事。
你会比别人更明白所以然，更理解用户心理，更能在 low 的时候坚持下去。不用担心自己的点子太小众，Peter Thiel 在里也说到，从一个大市场的小切入点开始做，才可能稳稳立足。
2222 什么是真正的痛点？
以前我们总是说，你要找到 pain in the *ss、找到强需求，然后不停迭代做出 solution，别人就会买账。然而 HomeJoy 这个技术颠覆传统行业的创业历程让我有了不一样的看法。HomeJoy 在吸引新用户时，对于已经有 home cleaning 的人，它靠的是 overnight booking、easy cancellation 等 edge cases；对于从来不用这项服务的人（这项服务本身并不是人的痛点），它靠“不择手段”的各种线下运营和“随之而来”的运气（quilty 心理下用户下单后来懒得或忘记 cancel 等）。吸引到新用户后，HomeJoy 才因为技术带来的便捷性、可靠性而逐渐代替传统行业的服务规则。
在一些行业中，你要面对的问题也许不是一个痛点，而是很多痒点（让用户觉得 annoyed 的点）。如果你能挠到用户的很多甚至所有痒点，他们就离不开你了。
我曾多次纠结于我做的几个项目没有找到清晰的用户痛点，最多是解决他们的一个 annoying 的问题，以至于当时我不太有底气。现在我知道，要相信自己的理念，并靠不停地攒用户来进一步支持这个理念。
where to start
3333 成为行业专家。
这点我一直非常认同，但曾经我只是实践于“做的事是和自己息息相关的”这个层面，却没有努力去学习、研究，成为行业专家。HomeJoy 的两位创始人最初亲自到别人家里做清洁、去培训学校学清洁、去专门的清洁公司上班，把 “成为行业专家” 做到了实处。
4444 勾勒完整的用户体验。
Jack Dorsey 也曾经，思考产品时要把完整的用户体验勾勒出来。用户怎么会知道你，什么情况下会有潜在需求，为什么会在那时候想到你，在看了你的网站你的 app 后为什么会选择开始用你的产品。之后才是注册、选择、购买的体验。再后还有 “售后” 体验，到货/服务、评价、口碑传播等等。狭义的产品用户体验仅仅是这整个体验的小小一部分。

5555 说用户听得懂的话。
对 HomeJoy 来说，与其对用户说 “我们是新时代家居清洁和用户需求的快速匹配高质量服务” blablabla 之类高大上的话，不如告诉他们 “$20 清洁，明天就到”。
异曲同工，对于小米来说，对用户说 “小米手机就是快”、“99元听歌神奇” 这样一针见血又接地气的大白话宣传语，比 “性能怪兽”、“唯快不攻”、“奶嘴级硅质，柔软舒适” 等抢眼噱头的话更能直接传达产品特点，便于理解和口口相传（案例自「」）。
6666 用数据做决策。
调查，评分，反馈。
一直明白事先调查和事后反馈这类 qualitative 信息的重要性。而对于公司的策略性发展来说，能够收集 quantitative 的评分是非常简单、客观，也是非常重要的。我很惊讶但是十分认可 HomeJoy 的做法，1-10的评分单个看来也许意义不大，甚至可能是人们 “善意的谎言”，但是 overtime 来说，可以通过比较 monthly 变化等数据来判断每个新的 feature、每次决策的效果，从而做更好的决策。与其把数据作为一个 sales 指标，不如用来辅助决策。
grow, strategically
7777 有计划地增长。
startup 要 grow。不是乱长，是要有计划地增长。如果预先没有一个标准，那就很难衡量用户增长是在放缓还是变快、用户增长情况是否正常、发展方向是否正确、是应该 pivot 还是坚持下去等等。
以上课后感是在思考着我现在的项目时想到的，并不会适用于所有的创业。请大家擦亮双眼，有限借鉴。同时欢迎讨论，拍砖从轻 :)
