虚拟校园漫游系统的设计与开发
虚拟校园是基于地理信息技术、虚拟现实技术和计算机网络技术等高新技术，将校园地理信息和其他校园信息相结合，以虚拟现实场景界面实现校园景观及信息的浏览查询，并可上载到计算机网络和提供远程用户访问。虚拟校园提供了校园景观及设施最直观的表现形式，方便了用户对校园信息的访问，促进了大学的建设和远程教学的发展。建立简单易行的现实感强的虚拟校园漫游便成为对大学校园虚拟化的目标。而VRML和3D MAX等相关软件也为虚拟校园提供了技术上的支持。
本文的研究目的是设计并开发一个虚拟校园漫游系统，作者通过阅读大量国内外相关文献资料，深入地研究了虚拟现实技术和现有构造三维场景的语言，在此基础上，确定了基于VRML及浏览器插件技术的虚拟现实系统架构方案。
首先，以虚拟场景构造的流程为线索，采用3Dstudio Max和VRMLPad实现虚拟场景对象的建模；针对建筑物建模的复杂度和真实感问题，提出了建筑物二次建模方法；
其次，探讨了虚拟校园场景的交互。在此基础上实现了视点控制和动画交互。
第三，在系统设计开发的末尾阶段，讨论对虚拟校园漫游系统的优化方法。通过碰撞检测、层次细节技术、纹理映射等技术方法优化系统。
除此之外，还探讨了系统的整体构架、系统的开发流程、模型纹理贴图以及纹理贴图对场景外观的巨大作用。最后综合以上研究工作，设计并实现了一个基于VRML技术的虚拟校园系统。
